A residential writers' room with set tasks each day. You live and work together on two projects: an animated feature with a finished script, concept art and characters in place, and an animated short in script development.

What the room works on

Scenes

Polishing

Rework assigned scenes on the feature and pitch new moments, grounded in why animated films reach children, families and young audiences.
Character

Detailing

Deepen the characters: their wants, habits and the moments that reveal them.
Writing

Short film

Develop the short's script in the room, task by task.

Who can apply

  • You understand animation writing, or love animated films and can say why they work for children, families and Gen Z.
  • Your writing comes from life more than from films. You have lived, worked or travelled in ways that gave you something to say.
  • You understand India from the inside: its rituals, its spirituality, the way people here think.
  • You work well with others and deliver on time, in the room

What comes with it

  • Stay and food covered for the five days, in a house with all facilities.
  • Work alongside five other writers in a collaborative room, in the sessions and outside them.
  • Writing credit and a bonus based on what works, agreed with you.

  • Mentors are brought in to guide some of the sessions.
  • Take a break between tasks with screenings, events and time off at the venue.

  3. ScreeningApplications are screened, then shortlisted writers are interviewed. Six are taken.
  4. ProcessThe exact location and details will be shared if selected. The scripts and material shared in the room are confidential and must not be shared outside it.
  5. TermsNothing about this room is final until confirmed in writing. The lab may change or cancel it in case of unforeseen events.
